Cat-eye press-on nails: the magnetic finish, explained

What makes a cat-eye set different from a glitter set

A cat-eye nail is not a glitter finish. A magnetic pigment is suspended in gel and then pulled into a band with a magnet before curing, so the light collects in one place and travels as the nail moves. Printed or glitter sets reflect light evenly; a cat-eye set shifts. That difference is the entire reason the style outsells flat metallics at retail — and the reason it cannot be reproduced by a wrap.

Every set in this collection is built on that magnetic layer, then finished by hand with crystals, chains or linework. The magnetic band is set before the art goes on, so decoration never flattens the effect.

What to specify when you order cat-eye wholesale

  • Base depth. Burgundy, blue-violet and pink-to-lavender read very differently once the band is pulled. Confirm on a physical sample, not a screen.
  • Band width. A fine line reads as a modern cat-eye; a full velvet band reads as a deeper, more expensive finish. Both are producible from the same base.
  • Topcoat. Gloss keeps the shift moving. Matte mutes it — sometimes deliberately.
  • Shape and length. The band is most visible on almond and coffin; on very short squares the effect compresses.
  • Sizing curve. Cat-eye sets sell in mixed size runs far more than single sizes.

How the finish holds up in wear

The pigment does not fade. What fails first on any press-on is the tip seal, so each kit ships with adhesive and a spare set of tabs, plus a file for the free edge. Removal with warm water and oil — not force — keeps the set reusable for a second wear, which is the story that sells a handmade cat-eye at a boutique price rather than a drugstore one.

Questions buyers ask about this range

Do cat-eye press-on nails look like salon gel?
Yes, if the magnetic layer is cured properly. Our sets use a magnetic gel coat sealed under a gloss topcoat, so the light band moves with your hand the same way a salon cat-eye does. A matte topcoat will mute the effect — say so on the order if you want it muted.
Can the magnetic band be customized?
Yes. Band width (fine line or full velvet), direction (vertical, diagonal, cross) and base depth are all set at the sample stage. Send a reference frame and we match the band, not just the colour.
How long does the cat-eye layer hold?
With normal wear and the adhesive included in the kit, 10–14 days is the working range. The magnetic pigment does not fade; what fails first is the tip seal, which is why every kit ships with a spare adhesive set.
Can I order a mixed cat-eye assortment?
Yes. Mixed-colour and mixed-shape assortments are how most first orders start — pick from the styles below and set the ratio per design in your inquiry.
